GENERADORA ELÉCTRICA DEL NORTE is duly authorized to trade electric energy within Guatemalan territory and at the Central American market. Since March 2008, it has also been trading through its trading company, RECURSOS GEOTÉRMICOS, S.A.- REGEO-. 


Power production is commercialized by GENOR and its other company, REGEO, S.A., through forward contracts (PPA’s) of several firms and local distribution companies as well as in the Spot Market and MER (export).

 

GENOR started operations in 1998 with the goal of offering a new, safer and more competitive alternative for the purchase of energy, as well as increasing the capacity of the National Interconnected System. GENOR is one of the new power plants created under the auspices of the General Law of Electricity that created the environment for investment in such new plants.

 

GENOR is a Guatemalan company with both local and foreign private investors, whose ownership is shared by INMOBILIARIA ARGOS, S.A., INTERAMERICAN POWER AND LIGHT, LTD. and ENERGY FINANCE PARTNERS OF CENTRAL AMERICA (EPCA), A SUBSIDIARY OF CON EDISON DEVELOPMENT, INC. of New York City.   
 
GENOR
is an Electric Power Plant made up by four “GenSet 18V38” Wärtsilä of 10.5 MW each one, which work with Bunker C.  

In order to be supplied of Bunker, GENOR has an installation in ZOLIC, where it owns a Storage Tank with an approximate capacity of 45,000 nominal barrels; additionally, it owns another storage tank in Plant, with a nominal capacity of 15,000 barrels.

Currently, our provider of oil (Bunker C) under contract is Unopetro, associated company of Hondupetrol.
